Kurdistan24 Correspondent Injured in al-Suwayda
Clashes between Druze and Bedouins in al-Suwayda have entered a fifth day, with over 100 killed and heavy weapons used. Fires have destroyed homes, and Kurdistan24’s correspondent was lightly injured by shelling while reporting. Locals plead for an end to the violence.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - The clashes between Druze gunmen and Bedouins have entered their fifth day, with fighting continuing in several areas of al-Suwayda. Heavy weapons have been used in the confrontations, and meanwhile, the Kurdistan24 correspondent in al-Suwayda has been lightly injured due to the shelling.
Fighting and tensions in the al-Suwayda region have resumed. Anwar Abdullatif, Kurdistan24's correspondent in al-Suwayda, said regarding the tensions in the area: "The fighting between the Druze and the Bedouins is ongoing. In several areas of al-Suwayda, the clashes have intensified, and the situation is very bad."
Regarding the number of casualties, the Kurdistan24 correspondent noted that from this morning, Friday, July 18, 2025, until now, more than one hundred people from both sides have been killed due to the shelling.
Anwar Abdullatif, Kurdistan24's envoy to al-Suwayda, added: "The Druze and the Bedouins are using heavy weapons against each other in the confrontations."
He also mentioned that due to the fighting, a fire has broken out in the village of Mazra'a and a large number of homes have been burned.
The Kurdistan24 correspondent added: "While we were reporting, a mortar shell landed near us, and as a result, I and a number of other civilians were injured, but one of them is seriously wounded."
Regarding his injury, he said: "We were in the village of Mazra'a and were directly shelled by mortars. I was lightly injured; a small piece of shrapnel hit my right shoulder. Near us, a number of other people were also injured while we were busy covering the fighting and recent developments in al-Suwayda."
He also noted that in the location where they were targeted, it was very clear that they were covering the events, yet they were shelled directly.
According to information from the Kurdistan24 correspondent, Syrian government forces have not yet intervened in the situation.
Anwar Abdullatif also revealed that the tensions have been ongoing for five days, which has made the situation for citizens very difficult. A tight siege has been imposed on the areas experiencing tensions, and residents are calling for the fighting to be stopped.
