ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The head of the company responsible for implementing Erbil’s massive new water supply system has declared the initiative to be the "largest project at the level of Iraq and neighboring countries," a technologically advanced undertaking that he said would not have been realized without the personal trust and unwavering concern of Prime Minister Masrour Barzani.
Speaking at the project's inauguration ceremony on Sunday, Khalid Khoshnaw, the owner of Hemn Group, positioned the new system as a landmark achievement for the capital and a testament to the KRG’s commitment to its citizens.
"The Erbil Emergency Rapid Water Project is another very valuable gift from the Kurdistan Regional Government to the people of Erbil," Khoshnaw stated during the ceremony, which was attended by the Prime Minister.
He explained that the project was born out of a direct decision by the Prime Minister to find a definitive solution to a chronic problem.
"To fundamentally solve Erbil's years-long water scarcity problem, by the decision of Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, Hemn Group was tasked with implementing the project and ending Erbil's water shortage for many years to come," he said.
Khoshnaw acknowledged the significant challenge the project presented. "The project was a new endeavor for us, but the assignment from Prime Minister Masrour Barzani for us to implement the project, combined with our love for Erbil and its people, made us shoulder this responsibility and implement the project with very high quality and to international standards."
A central focus for the company, he noted, was not only quality but also speed. "Our focus was always on reducing the project's completion time and fulfilling our promises to the Prime Minister and the people of Erbil in the best way possible," Khoshnaw said.
To underscore the project's adherence to global standards, Khoshnaw detailed the origins of its components. "We assure the Prime Minister and the people of Erbil that the project's materials were sourced from Germany, Denmark, Austria, and France," he confirmed. "The project's pipes were supplied by the second-largest company in this field worldwide, which is a Turkish company."
The owner of Hemn Group emphasized the unprecedented nature of the initiative, both in its scale and its technological sophistication. "The Emergency Rapid Water Supply Project for the city of Erbil is the largest project at the level of Iraq and neighboring countries, implemented with the latest systems that have never been used in any project before," he announced.
To meet the aggressive timeline, the company dedicated immense resources to the task. "All of Hemn Group's capabilities, including its expert staff and necessary infrastructure, were made available, with work on the project continuing around the clock in three shifts, 24 hours a day," Khoshnaw said.
Despite his company’s capabilities, Khoshnaw repeatedly credited the Prime Minister's direct support as the crucial element for success. "However capable Hemn Group may be, without the support of the Prime Minister and the continuous follow-up from his office, the project could not have been implemented in such a short time," he stated.
Expressing his gratitude, he added, "We thank the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government for the trust he has in Hemn Group. He gave us the great honor of implementing this project for the city of Erbil." In a direct pledge, Khoshnaw promised that "we will not lose the trust that Prime Minister Masrour Barzani has placed in Hemn Group."
Looking to the future, Khalid Khoshnaw concluded with a significant announcement, signaling his company's continued role in the region's development. "Hemn Group will implement two more strategic projects this year and put them at the service of the people of Erbil and Kurdistan," he revealed.
