ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – İbrahim Kalın, the Director of the National Intelligence Organization of Turkey (MIT), discussed the peace process and the disarmament of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) with the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) faction in parliament on Monday.

Kalın visited the leaders of various factions in the Turkish parliament as part of efforts to ensure the success of the new peace process in Turkey.

During his visit, he met separately with MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli and later with the leader and deputy leader of the AKP faction.

In the afternoon, he met with DEM Party co-chairs Tülay Hatimoğulları and Tuncer Bakırhan, along with DEM Party faction deputy leaders Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit and Sezai Temelli. They discussed the new peace process and the PKK's disarmament.

Kalın is also expected to meet with AK Party officials and CHP leader Özgür Özel on Thursday.

This visit comes as a parliamentary commission is anticipated to be established in the coming days to lay the legal groundwork for the PKK's disarmament process.

On July 11, a group of 30 PKK fighters destroyed their weapons in a pit during a ceremony at Jasana Cave in Sulaimani province, following the call of their jailed leader, Abdullah Ocalan.
