ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - Bahrain has strongly condemned an Iranian drone attack targeting the office of Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani and the residence of the director of the region’s security agency in Pir Mam, describing the attack as a serious violation of international law and the principles of good-neighborly relations.

In a statement issued Tuesday, Bahrain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its full solidarity with Iraq and the Kurdistan Regional Government and reiterated its support for measures aimed at protecting Iraq’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and safeguarding security and stability in the Kurdistan Region.

Bahrain’s Foreign Ministry said such attacks represented a dangerous escalation that threatened the security and stability of the region.

The ministry described the attack as a serious violation of international law, the UN Charter and the principles of good-neighborly relations.

Bahrain also expressed its full sympathy with Iraq and the Kurdistan Regional Government, while supporting any steps that would contribute to protecting Iraq’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and preserving security and stability in the Kurdistan Region.

According to the ministry, such measures should also help reduce tensions and consolidate peace in the region.

The Bahraini statement came a day after two explosive-laden Iranian-made Hadid-110 drones were directed from the Iranian border toward the office of the Kurdistan Region prime minister and the residence of the director of the security agency in Pir Mam, Erbil province.

The attack took place early Monday, Aug. 17, 2026. Bahrain’s condemnation adds to the regional response to the attack, with the kingdom reiterating its solidarity with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region and its support for efforts aimed at preserving their security, sovereignty and stability.
