ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — The United Arab Emirates issued a brief emergency phone alert on Tuesday warning residents of potential missile threats, after the Ministry of Defense said it had detected missiles “directed towards the country.”

“Due to the current situation, potential missile threats, immediately seek a safe place in the closest secure building,” the Ministry of Interior said in the alert, which was lifted shortly afterward.

The Ministry of Defense separately confirmed that it had “detected a missile threat directed towards the country,” without providing further details on the number of missiles, their origin or whether any were intercepted.

The warning was the first such alert in the UAE since July, when authorities issued a precautionary warning following regional missile activity. A separate alert in June was later determined to have been triggered by a technical malfunction in the country’s early-warning system.

The latest alert comes amid renewed regional tensions linked to the ongoing US-Israeli conflict with Iran and heightened security concerns across the Gulf. The UAE has previously faced Iranian missile and drone attacks during the conflict, including a major escalation in July after US strikes on Iranian targets.

The UAE has also reported a series of maritime incidents in recent days. Abu Dhabi has accused Iran of attacking vessels operated by the state-owned Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) while transiting the Strait of Hormuz, with no injuries reported. The incidents have added to concerns over regional security and freedom of navigation through the strategic waterway.

The UAE has repeatedly said it seeks to protect its territory and maintain regional stability as the conflict continues to affect Gulf states and vital shipping routes.
