ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - National Coalition leader Ayad Allawi has strongly condemned the attack targeting the office of Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, describing it as an explicit violation of Iraq’s sovereignty and stability.

In a letter addressed to Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Tuesday, Allawi expressed concern over the attack targeting the prime minister’s office and the residence of the director of the Kurdistan Region’s Protection Agency.

Allawi described the attack as an unacceptable act that harms the security of the Kurdistan Region as well as Iraq’s sovereignty and overall stability.

“This attack is a rejected act that harms the security of the Region, Iraq’s sovereignty and overall stability, and I strongly condemn it,” Allawi said.

He stressed the need to urgently identify the parties and forces behind what he described as a dangerous attack and called for those responsible to be punished in accordance with the law.

Allawi also said that similar actions that threaten Iraq’s security must not be allowed to happen again.

At the conclusion of his letter, the National Coalition leader expressed his relief that the Kurdistan Region prime minister was safe.

He wished continued security, peace and safety for the Kurdistan Region, Iraq and all their people.

The condemnation follows an attack early Monday, when two explosive-laden Hadid-110 drones were directed from the direction of the Iranian border toward the compound housing the private office of the Kurdistan Region prime minister and the residence of the Director of the Protection (Parastin) Agency in Pirmam, Erbil Governorate.
