Kurdish Child Laborers Attacked in Turkey’s Zonguldak Province
On Sunday, Ekinci, Kurdistan24’s correspondent in Turkey, reported that a group of individuals attacked several Kurdish children working as laborers in Alaplı.
ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Several Kurdish child laborers were attacked in Alaplı, a district of Turkey’s Zonguldak province, amid what Kurdistan24 correspondent Murad Ekinci described as continued ethnically motivated violence against Kurdish citizens in Turkey.
On Sunday, Ekinci, Kurdistan24’s correspondent in Turkey, reported that a group of individuals attacked several Kurdish children working as laborers in Alaplı.
He said Kurdish citizens in Turkey continue to face organized attacks and violence, sometimes simply for speaking Kurdish or listening to Kurdish music.
According to Ekinci, the incidents have an ethnic dimension and should not be dismissed as ordinary disputes between Turkish citizens, as the victims are targeted because of their Kurdish identity.
He also criticized the lack of an official response, saying neither the Turkish government nor political officials had condemned the attacks. The DEM Party was the only political party to publicly address the incident, calling for measures to protect Kurdish citizens and prevent further ethnically motivated attacks.
Ekinci said the Kurdish children were attacked in the presence of Turkish security forces and police, but the authorities failed to intervene against the attackers.
He warned that unless serious legal and security measures are taken to prevent such incidents, continued attacks could increase tensions and threaten peaceful coexistence, fraternity, and social harmony among Turkey’s diverse communities.
