Kurdistan Region Expands Eligibility for Retirement Age Extension to 65
An amended provision expands eligibility for extending the retirement age to 65 to include first- and second-degree relatives of martyrs.
ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - The Kurdistan Region Council of Ministers, by order of Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, has amended a provision in the retirement law regulations, expanding the categories of employees eligible to extend their retirement age to 65.
The Kurdistan Regional Government’s Department of Media and Information announced on Tuesday, that the Council of Ministers had amended a provision related to the retirement law regulations, broadening the scope of beneficiaries eligible for the extension.
According to the Department of Media and Information, under the Council of Ministers’ new order No. 11760, dated September 17, 2026, Paragraph (Third/2) of the previous regulations has been amended.
Under the amended provision, the right to extend the retirement age to 65, in addition to relatives of martyrs of the Kurdistan Region, will also apply to the following categories:
Employees who are first- and second-degree relatives of Feyli Kurdish martyrs.
Employees who are first- and second-degree relatives of martyrs registered under the amended Federal Martyrs Foundation Law No. 2 of 2016.
The order also stipulates that the main condition for employees to benefit from the decision is the submission of official documentation from the relevant institution to verify their files.
