Iran's FM: Armed Forces Will Act Decisively Against Any Threat To Iran's Borders
The statement was made in response to questions about reports of Ukrainian drone base deployments near Iran and the presence of thousands of drones in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, which the Ukrainian Embassy in Baghdad rejected last week as baseless disinformation
ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) - Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei declared Monday that those responsible for monitoring threats surrounding Iran are carefully tracking developments and will act whenever necessary to defend the country and repel threats and hostile acts, directly addressing questions about reports of Ukrainian drone deployments near Iran and alleged drone presence in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
Responding to a question about reports of drone base deployments near Iran, including Ukrainian movements in Iraq and the alleged presence of thousands of drones in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, Baghaei said: "Rest assured that those responsible for monitoring these developments are carefully following the situation and will act whenever necessary to defend the country and repel hostile acts and threats."
He added: "You have heard the reports related to the actions of the armed forces both during the 40-day war and in the days that followed. Wherever we have sensed a threat or hostility directed at Iran's territory, our armed forces have defended the country decisively and will continue to do so in the same manner. Have no doubt."
The Ukrainian Drone Claim
The question specifically referenced reports claiming Ukraine had deployed drone bases near Iran and that thousands of drones were present in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
The Ukrainian Embassy in Baghdad rejected those claims last week in an official statement, calling them completely baseless and a form of deliberate disinformation. The embassy said Ukraine has not deployed any type of drone, drone unit, or related personnel in the Kurdistan Region or anywhere else in Iraq, and called on media organizations to refrain from publishing unverified allegations. The claims had originated from Iran's Tasnim News Agency, which cited an unidentified security source.
Baghaei's statement arrives at a moment of significant military and diplomatic tension. US intelligence agencies warned last Friday that Iranian preparations to attack Americans throughout the Middle East have reached advanced stages, prompting evacuations from embassies and bases across the region. President Trump said Saturday he may strike Iran as soon as the day after the November 3 midterms. The USS George Washington received standoff missiles and bunker buster bombs in the Arabian Sea. Iran is simultaneously hosting a quadrilateral security summit in Tehran with Saudi, Pakistani, and Turkish officials, and Iranian FM Araghchi said Sunday that another attack on Iran will not produce different results from previous strikes.
