ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – A Qatari delegation arrived in Tehran on Friday for talks with Iranian officials as diplomatic efforts intensify to revive negotiations between Iran and the United States and de-escalate the ongoing conflict.

According to Iran's state-run IRNA news agency, the delegation was headed by a senior adviser to Qatar's prime minister and was scheduled to meet senior Iranian officials to discuss bilateral relations and regional developments.

Qatar has stepped up its diplomatic efforts to mediate between Washington and Tehran, proposing a framework aimed at securing an immediate de-escalation and creating conditions for broader negotiations.

The Qatari proposal reportedly outlines a seven-day process involving daily, reciprocal confidence-building measures designed to reduce regional tensions and provide an opportunity to advance a wider settlement.

However, the mediation faces a major obstacle over the sequencing of the two sides' demands.

Washington insists that Iran's nuclear program must be addressed from the outset of formal negotiations, including allowing UN inspectors to return to nuclear facilities damaged in previous strikes.

Tehran, meanwhile, has demanded that the United States first lift its naval blockade on Iranian ports and ease sanctions restricting Iranian oil exports before it considers making concessions on its nuclear program.

The competing demands have complicated efforts to establish a framework for renewed negotiations between the two countries.
