Iran Says Intensive Talks Underway with US Through Mediators
"Given the sensitivity and gravity of the current situation, consultations and deliberations are very intensive. Qatar and Pakistan are playing a very active mediating role in these negotiations," Araghchi said
ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Monday that "very intensive" negotiations are underway with the United States through mediators, as tensions in the Middle East threaten to escalate again.
"Given the sensitivity and gravity of the current situation, consultations and deliberations are very intensive. Qatar and Pakistan are playing a very active mediating role in these negotiations," Araghchi said in a video interview with Iran's official IRNA news agency.
Meanwhile, Iranian security chief Mohsen Rezaei held a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss the latest developments in the Middle East, Iranian state media reported on Monday.
According to IRNA, the conversation took place as part of high-level consultations between Tehran and Moscow, following recent meetings between senior officials from the two countries. No further details were provided.
Separately, Iran's First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref claimed that messages exchanged with Washington through intermediaries indicated that the United States had acknowledged Iran's "victory" in the recent conflict.
"Our enemy failed to achieve any of its objectives in the last two wars," Aref said, according to IRNA, adding that communications conveyed through intermediaries pointed to an acknowledgment of Tehran's victory.
His remarks came as diplomatic efforts continue to prevent a renewed escalation of the conflict, with Qatar and Pakistan playing active roles in facilitating communications between Tehran and Washington.
