Duhok Ships 232,377 Tons of Farm Produce to Iraqi Markets
Duhok farms shipped 232,377 tons of produce to central and southern Iraq in 10 months, led by 131,691 tons of potatoes, the Duhok agriculture directorate says.
ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - Farms in Duhok province sent 232,377 tons of crops and agricultural products to markets in central and southern Iraq over the first 10 months of this year, with potatoes claiming the top spot among exported goods, the province’s agriculture chief announced on Tuesday.
Ahmed Jamil, director general of agriculture in Duhok, shared the figure as part of an official statistic issued by the Directorate General of Agriculture in Duhok and obtained by Kurdistan24.
The statistic covers the period from the beginning of January through the end of October 2026. Potatoes dominated the movement of goods, with 131,691 tons.
Watermelon came second at 27,896 tons, followed by tomatoes at 23,130 tons, onions at 21,094 tons, and cucumbers at 14,003 tons.
The data also shows that dozens of other varieties of vegetables, fruits, and grains were exported. They include grapes, pomegranates, apples, figs, squash, eggplant, peppers, sumac, rice, and olives.
Jamil said departments under the Duhok agriculture directorate completed 28,766 official letters over the same 10 months. The letters were issued to ease the administrative procedures and transactions required to move the crops to governorates in central and southern Iraq.
Locally grown produce from farmers in the Kurdistan Region sees wide demand in Iraqi markets, and that demand grows each year because of its high quality. The trend directly supports the agricultural sector and raises the financial returns of farmers in Duhok province.
