ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Several Iraqi media outlets have published a security document indicating an alleged plot by ISIS fighters to poison Baghdad's drinking water sources.

According to the document, the Intelligence and Security Department of the Baghdad Operations Command has disclosed plans by ISIS to contaminate water sources at treatment plants, aiming to harm as many citizens as possible.

The document asserts that ISIS has developed a specific type of poison for this purpose, prompting urgent calls for comprehensive security measures to protect Baghdad's drinking water. Recommendations include tightening security at water treatment facilities, installing surveillance cameras at critical locations, and enhancing monitoring and intelligence-gathering efforts.

Despite the gravity of these claims, no official Iraqi government entity has confirmed the accuracy of the information. The security document emphasizes the need for heightened surveillance to safeguard water treatment plants and drinking water distribution throughout Baghdad. However, it does not mention the necessity of laboratory testing.
