VIDEO: IS shells eastern Mosul with alleged mustard gas

On Thursday, Islamic State (IS) bombarded eastern Mosul neighborhoods with chemical weapons. A number of victims were hospitalized in Erbil.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan24) - On Thursday, Islamic State (IS) bombarded eastern Mosul neighborhoods with chemical weapons. A number of victims were hospitalized in Erbil.

In a video report, Kurdistan24 Correspondent Hoshmand Sadiq visits Erbil hospitals and talks with victims of IS chemical attack.

The bombardment included Intissar, Garaj Shimal, and Gogjali areas, according to the affected civilians.

Iraqi forces have liberated the mentioned neighborhoods in the past few months after they launched the military operation to liberate Mosul from IS on Oct. 17, 2016.

IS chemical attack have previously been reported by the Kurdish Peshmerga forces with the same type of chemical substance which is Mustard gas.

The extremist group occupied Mosul in June 2014 and shortly after expanded to other parts of Iraq. Now, more than half of the city has been liberated and the operation is ongoing to oust IS.
