ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The office of the Kurdistan Region's president condemned on Friday the deadly suicide bombings in Kabul, Afghanistan, that killed over 85 people including US troops.

On Thursday afternoon, at the Abbey Gate of the Hamid Karzai International Airport in Afghanistan’s capital, two suicide bombers detonated among desperate Afghans waiting to enter the airport and catch a flight out of the country.

At least 85 people were killed in the attacks, including 13 US service members stationed at the airport to assist fleeing Afghans, AFP reported. Hours later, the Islamic State-Khorasan group claimed the responsibility for the deadly blasts.

“We condemn Thursday’s terror attacks in Kabul that killed dozens of Afghan citizens and U.S. soldiers. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims’ families and loved ones,” the Kurdistan Region Presidency tweeted on Friday.
