Iraqi warplanes bomb suspected ISIS hideout in rural Nineveh

The Iraqi military said the cave is an "important" and "strategic" site to ISIS.

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) - Iraqi F-16 warplanes on Tuesday bombed a suspected ISIS hideout that was the "command and control" center of the terrorist group in Nineveh province, the Iraqi military said.

The strike targeted a 140-meter-long cave south of the semi-desert town of Hatra, which is south of the Nineveh capital of Mosul.

The army said the cave is an "important" and "strategic" site to ISIS. The military's warplanes conducted "precision strikes" based on intelligence about the inhabitants of the hideout, destroying it and killing seven people inside, the army added.

It concluded the statement by saying the names of the ISIS suspects and their ranks within the terrorist organization would be announced "later."
