Iraqi Parliament Speaker Condemns Drone Attack on PM Barzani’s Office

Halbousi reaffirmed his solidarity with the Kurdistan Region and expressed his support for safeguarding the security and stability of both the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Thursday received a phone call from Iraqi Parliament Speaker Haibat al-Halbousi, during which the Iraqi official condemned the recent drone attack targeting Barzani’s private office and the residence of the Director-General of the Parastin Security Agency.

According to a statement published on the Kurdistan Regional Government’s official website, Halbousi reaffirmed his solidarity with the Kurdistan Region and expressed his support for safeguarding the security and stability of both the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.

He also stressed the need to prevent such security violations and protect the region from further attacks.

For his part, Prime Minister Barzani thanked Halbousi for his support and solidarity.

The attack took place on Monday, when the Kurdistan Region Counter-Terrorism Service (CTS) said that two Iranian-made Hadid-110 explosive drones targeted Barzani’s private office and the home of the head of the Kurdistan Region’s Security and Intelligence Agency (Parastin).

No casualties were reported in the attack. Investigations were launched to determine the extent of the damage and gather further details about the incident.
