ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) - Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Shia al-Sudani has expressed his deep condolences to the leadership, government, and people of Iran following the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdullahian, and seven others.
In a solemn statement, Prime Minister Sudani conveyed his sorrow over the incident, stating, "It is with great sadness that we have heard the news of the deaths of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdullahian, and their companions in a plane crash in northern Iran."

The tragic accident occurred in East Azarbaijan province on Sunday evening, reportedly due to bad weather conditions.
After an extensive 18-hour search, the wreckage of the helicopter was found, confirming the deaths of all nine passengers on board. The deceased include:
- Ebrahim Raisi, President of Iran
- Hossein Amir Abdullahian, Iranian Foreign Minister
- Ayatollah Mohammed Ali Ale-Hashim, Friday prayer leader of Tehran and representative of the Iranian Supreme Leader
- Malek Rahmati, Governor of East-Azarbaijan
- Mehdi Mousavi, Chief of the Guards
- A presidential guard
- The helicopter pilot
- Two co-pilots
