Premier Masrour Barzani warmly welcomed British Consul General Andrew Bizley

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The Kurdistan Region’s Prime Minister Masrour Barzani warmly welcomed the new appointed Consul General for the British Consul General in Erbil Andrew Bizley on Wednesday. The Premier congratulated Mr. Bizley on his new post in the British Consulate General, and wished him every success in his role.

The Prime expressed the Kurdistan Region Government’s support to the Consul General, and underlined to work side by side to make the strong relationship between the Kurdistan Region and the United Kingdom of Great Britain more progressed.

As officially announced, the British Consulate General in Erbil works to reinforced the diplomatic relationship between the Kurdistan Region and the United Kingdom.

The importance of the cooperation between the Kurdistan Region Government and the Iraqi Federal Government was highlighted in the session. In addition, the solutions for the issues between the two governments pointed out.

The Consul General Andrew Bizley worked before in Iraq, and stated in a greeting video message he shared online through the British Consulate General’s and the UK in Erbil official accounts,

“I am now absolutely thrilled to be here. I was lucky enough to spend some time in the region on a previous posting to Iraq and my experience of the Kurdistan Region’s people, its culture, the food, and the landscape left such an impression on me that I’ve known for a while that I wanted to return here, to live here, to get to know the region even more,” he stated in the greeting-video-message. 

“The relationship between the UK and the people of this region is long-standing and it remains incredibly important to the UK, so I’m very proud to lead our consulate’s work on building on that relationship.” He underscored in the video.
