Kurdistan Pipeline Flow Doubles To 500,000 Bpd
KAR Group’s chairman says the Region’s gas grid now runs unbroken from Khor Mor to Duhok and that crude moving through the Kurdistan oil pipeline has risen from 250,000 to 500,000 barrels per day, figures that were not immediately confirmed by officials
ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) - The chairman of KAR Group said on Saturday that the Kurdistan Region’s natural gas network is now fully connected from Garmiyan to Duhok and that the volume of crude oil moving through the Kurdistan oil pipeline has doubled from 250,000 to 500,000 barrels per day, in a post on his official X account.
Baz Rauf Karim, chairman of the board of directors of KAR Group, called the gas link a major gain for the Region’s energy infrastructure at a sensitive and decisive stage.
He said:
All natural gas produced in the Kurdistan Region is now tied into a single large pipeline network that runs from the Khor Mor area to Duhok. The network feeds power stations, factories and industrial plants directly,
He also added that the gas reaches industrial complexes and processing stations. He described the step as an important stage in securing energy supply and as a valuable gain for raising production and industrial processing in the Region.

The gas link builds on a series of KAR projects. The company built the 198-kilometer, $591 million Erbil-Duhok gas pipeline, which Prime Minister Masrour Barzani inaugurated on October 28, 2025, to run Duhok’s 1,000-megawatt power station on gas after years of diesel shortages. At the time, the company said a pipeline linking Khor Mor to Chamchamal would be its next step.
In June, technical teams from the Ministries of Natural Resources and Electricity, working with KAR Group and Dana Gas, connected a new Khor Mor pipeline to the Sulaimani power station in six hours, according to Kurdistan 24.
Khor Mor supplies most of the Kurdistan Region’s electricity generation, Dana Gas has said.
On oil, Karim said the volume of crude moving through the Kurdistan oil pipeline has risen from 250,000 to 500,000 barrels per day. He said that if the line reaches its full capacity of one million barrels per day, about 33 percent of all Iraqi oil would travel through it to world markets, and he thanked all parties that contributed to the achievement.
The pipeline has had an unsteady record. Flows to Turkey’s Ceyhan port resumed on September 27, 2025, after a halt of two and a half years. They stopped again for a time in March, then restarted, with Iraq’s North Oil Company saying about 250,000 barrels per day were being pumped to Ceyhan by March 18. Iraq and Turkey signed a one-year agreement in August covering 750,000 barrels per day through the line while talks on a longer deal continue. Estimates of the pipeline’s capacity vary by source and segment, from about 700,000 barrels per day to a theoretical one million and about 1.2 million for the Kirkuk-Ceyhan line, so Karim’s one million figure falls within the range reported.
The announcement came days after an Iraqi federal delegation met Prime Minister Masrour Barzani in Zakho on Sunday to discuss the oil export and handover mechanism and the 2027 budget.
