Iraqi-Turkish technical committee discusses water issues in Baghdad

Both sides emphasized the importance of meeting Iraq's water needs through mutual understanding and a shared vision.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The second meeting of the Iraqi-Turkish Technical Committee on Water Issues was held in Baghdad to discuss joint water-related projects and issues between the two countries.

The discussions emphasized that projects outlined in the agreement would be carried out by Turkish companies in coordination with Iraqi companies.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) announced that its team participated in the meeting.

Representatives from the KRG included the Director General of Dams and Water Storages and the Director General of Water Resources, who were present at the first committee meeting following the signing of the framework agreement.

Aoun Diab Abdullah, Iraq's Minister of Water Resources and Technical Deputy Chairman of the Committee, chaired the meeting. Turkish Ambassador Berris Ekinci, who also holds the rank of Deputy Foreign Minister, attended the session.

The committee discussed various water-related issues and projects proposed within the framework of the agreement.

These projects include the construction of rainwater harvesting dams and the implementation of irrigation projects in the Kurdistan Region, facilitated by Turkish companies in cooperation with Iraq.
