KDP President Barzani, British Ambassador discuss regional stability, Sinjar agreement implementation

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – On Monday, Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) President Massoud Barzani received British Ambassador to Iraq Stephen Hitchen in Salahaddin.

According to a statement released by the Barzani Headquarters, the meeting focused on regional and Middle Eastern tensions, with both leaders emphasizing the need for stability, security, and de-escalation. 

The statement emphasized that both parties underscored the region's inability to withstand further tensions, highlighting the urgent need for stability and security.

Discussions also covered the relations between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Federal Iraqi Government. President Barzani provided insights from his recent visit to Baghdad, including meetings with Iraqi political parties and international envoys.

The situation in Sinjar was a key topic, with a focus on normalizing the area and implementing the Sinjar agreement. President Barzani highlighted the efforts and sacrifices made to liberate Sinjar and stressed the importance of returning displaced residents to their homes.

The meeting concluded with discussions on the latest talks between the Iraqi Federal Government and coalition forces regarding their presence in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
