Awareness campaign launched for refugee students, orphaned children in Duhok camps

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) - The Joint Crisis Coordination Center (JCCC) has launched a vital campaign aimed at raising awareness among refugee students and orphaned children in camps across Duhok province.
The initiative, hosted at Our Bridge School in Khanke, is designed to equip vulnerable children with essential skills in emergency preparedness.
A team of rapid response trainers from the JCCC conducted the awareness course for 27 students, focusing on critical topics such as fire fighting, first aid, and earthquake preparedness.
The training is intended to empower these displaced students and orphans with the knowledge they need to protect themselves and others in emergencies.
"The campaign is a part of a broader effort to provide life-saving education to those who need it most," said a spokesperson from the JCCC. "The skills taught during these sessions can be used at home to save lives in the event of an emergency."
The JCCC also revealed that this initiative is part of an ongoing series of campaigns. This week, a similar training session was conducted for 15 volunteers in Sulaimani province, with plans to expand the campaign to Erbil and other parts of Sulaimani.
Since 2021, the JCCC, in collaboration with the Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW), has conducted 44 such campaigns, benefiting 1,885 individuals. These efforts aim to ensure that those living in vulnerable conditions are better prepared to respond to emergencies before professional help arrives.
