The agreement was formalized during a meeting in Erbil between KRG Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources Begard Talabani and Jordanian Minister of Agriculture Khaled Musa al-Hanefat, who arrived in the Kurdistan Region on Saturday evening.
The delegation was welcomed at Erbil International Airport by Minister Talabani and Erbil Governor Omed Khoshnaw.
Speaking to Kurdistan 24, Minister al-Hanefat emphasized that the purpose of his visit was to explore the Kurdistan Region's key agricultural products and identify opportunities for trade collaboration between Jordan and the Kurdistan Region.
"We will develop our relations with the Kurdistan Region in the field of agriculture and work to increase trade exchanges between the two sides," al-Hanefat stated, highlighting the mutual benefits of enhanced agricultural ties.
Minister Talabani expressed optimism about the agreement, noting that the KRG has prioritized the development of the agricultural sector over the past five years.
"I certainly think that the Kurdistan Regional Government has been directly focused on how to develop the agricultural sector," she said.
"We have been able to establish very good relations in receiving advanced scientific experience from other countries," she reaffirmed.
The memorandum consists of multiple articles outlining cooperation in various agricultural fields, including plant cultivation, poultry farming, and food industry development.
The agreement is expected to open new markets for farmers in both regions and facilitate the exchange of knowledge and expertise.
