Prime Minister Masrour Barzani’s Address:
Prime Minister Barzani highlighted the disparity in employment rates between the Kurdistan Region and other regions of Iraq, attributing the challenges faced by Kurdish citizens to policies from Baghdad.
He criticized attempts to shift blame onto the Kurdistan Regional Government, pointing out the unjust treatment of the Kurdish people by federal authorities.
Prime Minister Masrour Barzani stated that "Some individuals in Baghdad are attempting to deprive the Kurdish people of their livelihoods and are encouraging the federal government not to disburse salaries."
"They are also attempting to provoke teachers and citizens to voice their grievances, which are then directed towards the Kurdistan Regional Government," he underscored.
Barzani acknowledged the teachers' right to protest but urged that grievances be directed towards those responsible for the financial shortfalls rather than the KRG.
Prime Minister Masrour Barzani stated, "Teachers are encouraged to demonstrate, as protesting is a natural right for any citizen wishing to express their dissatisfaction. However, I wish the reasons for these demonstrations were clearer and that grievances were directed towards those responsible for the issues. It is disheartening to see attempts to starve the Kurdish people while then directing complaints at ourselves."
He praised the resilience and professionalism of the teachers, stating, “Your resistance, behavior, and tolerance are lessons for students to learn from.”
The Prime Minister assured that all teachers would be contracted, emphasizing his commitment to supporting the education sector and ensuring that teachers receive the recognition and compensation they deserve.
He encouraged teachers to continue their vital work and remain dedicated to educating students with the values instilled in them.
