Road Revolution: Ninth Cabinet Transforms Kurdistan's Infrastructure

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - The ninth cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has made significant strides in improving the region's infrastructure, completing 585 road projects, including 75 strategic projects, with another 291 currently underway.

These efforts have resulted in the construction of 1,363 kilometers of new roads, using more than 11 million square meters of asphalt, at a cost exceeding 930 billion dinars.

Key projects completed during the ninth cabinet:

- New Erbil-Duhok Road: This 86-kilometer, four-lane highway replaced a dangerous and outdated route, improving safety and connectivity between the two major cities at a cost of 399 billion dinars.

-  Greater Zab River Bridge: The largest bridge in the Kurdistan Region, spanning 928 meters and costing over 43 billion dinars, this vital link connects the Erbil and Duhok provinces as part of the Roviya-Gopal two-sided road.

- Pirmam Tunnel: This 2.5-kilometer tunnel, equipped with advanced ventilation and lighting systems, provides a faster and safer route between Erbil's center and the Shaqlawa and Harir Plain areas, reducing congestion and travel time.

- Ranya Bridge: This 420-meter bridge, built at a cost of over 11 billion dinars, connects the Raperin independent administration, Dukan township, and Sulaimani, improving accessibility and facilitating regional trade.

- 150-meter Street in Erbil: This ambitious 70-kilometer highway project, with a total cost of $700 million, will create a high-speed circular route around Erbil, connecting several districts and enhancing traffic flow.

These projects, primarily implemented by local labor, aim to improve citizens' lives, boost the economy, and promote tourism and industry in the Kurdistan Region. The ninth cabinet's commitment to infrastructure development demonstrates its dedication to creating a modern and connected region.
