ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani today laid the foundation stone for the Erbil Emergency Water Supply Project, a major initiative to address the province's water shortage crisis.

During the event, Khaled Khoshnaw, the owner of Hemn Group, expressed his appreciation for Prime Minister Barzani's support and confidence in the project.

"This project, made possible by the Prime Minister's decision and support, will solve a major problem for Erbil City by drawing water from the Great Zab River," said Khoshnaw.

The project, valued at $479 million and funded by the Kurdistan Regional Government, will be executed by Hemn Group and is expected to be completed within 550 days.

Khoshnaw highlighted the Prime Minister's trust as a motivating factor and stated that the project will employ 5,000 workers. He further emphasized the significant increase in water supply the project will bring to Erbil.

"Since Maliki's reign, only 13,000 cubic meters of water per hour has been supplied to Erbil from the Great Zab River. This project will increase that to 20,000 cubic meters per hour, meeting the needs of 1.5 million citizens according to international standards," Khoshnaw explained.

He reiterated his gratitude to Prime Minister Barzani for entrusting Hemn Group with this crucial project and assured that the project will be completed to the highest quality standards and in the shortest possible time.

"We assure you that this project will exceed expectations in terms of quality and will be delivered promptly to serve the people of Erbil. 5,000 employees will work in three shifts to ensure its timely completion," Khoshnaw concluded.
