Iraqi Airways suspends Lebanon flights, stranded citizens to return by land

Iraqi citizens currently in Lebanon and unable to return by air are reportedly being assisted by the Iraqi government in arranging their return via land routes through Syria.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - Iraqi Airways has announced the suspension of all flights between Iraq and Lebanon due to the ongoing unrest in Lebanon, the Ministry of Transportation confirmed on Saturday.

Today's scheduled flights, which included two departures from Iraq at 10 am and 4 pm, and two return flights from Lebanon at 2 pm and 8 pm, have all been cancelled.

Iraqi citizens currently in Lebanon and unable to return by air are reportedly being assisted by the Iraqi government in arranging their return via land routes through Syria.

The Iraqi Embassy in Lebanon has also reached out to Iraqi citizens residing in the country, urging them to contact the embassy for assistance in facilitating their safe return.

The suspension of flights comes amidst escalating tensions and security concerns in Lebanon, highlighting the impact of regional instability on travel and transportation.
