ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - On Sunday, Masrour Barzani, the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, officially inaugurated the Barzani Namir Educational Complex in Erbil during a ceremony attended by Kurdistan Region’s Minister of Education, Alan Hama Saeed, among other dignitaries.

Addressing the audience at the event, Prime Minister Barzani expressed his admiration for the newly built educational facility.

"I could not believe that this complex was built in such an advanced way; it is commendable and it makes us proud. I congratulate the Ministry of Education and the supervisors of this advanced educational complex that was built under the duty of the Kurdistan Regional Government. It is open and consists of several different sections," he remarked.

Prime Minister Barzani emphasized that the complex was designed with a holistic approach, integrating various aspects beyond traditional education.

"Apart from education, other important aspects of life have been taken into account in the construction of the Barzani Namir Educational Complex, such as the provision of supplies, sports, artistic, and health facilities, in addition to safety and fire fighting systems. A good area of the community is also allocated for greenery, which provides a more favorable atmosphere for students to be more interested in school and spend useful time there," he added.

Named after the national leader of the Kurdish people, the late Mustafa Barzani, the Prime Minister reflected on the legacy and vision that inspired the complex’s creation.

He noted, "This complex is named after the leader who spent his entire life for national independence. One of his main goals was that our people study freely and proudly, and that Kurdistan's youth advance through education to better serve their country."

During his speech, Prime Minister Barzani also highlighted the region's gratitude toward its defenders.

He stated, "The freedom, security, stability, and achievements we have are all thanks to the struggle and sacrifices of our heroic Peshmergas and military martyrs. I hope that this educational complex, its students, teachers, and employees will live up to the glorious name of the late Barzani and be an example of intelligence, skill, morality, patriotism, and environmentalism."

Looking to the future, Prime Minister Barzani stressed the importance of further investments in education across the Kurdistan Region.

"In recent years, despite the difficult financial situation, the government, with the assistance of the private sector, has built and renovated dozens of new schools. We will continue our program to further develop the education sector," he affirmed, underscoring the government’s commitment to expanding educational opportunities.

The Barzani Namir Educational Complex represents a significant milestone in the KRG's efforts to advance education, offering a comprehensive environment that supports students' academic, physical, and social development.

Here is the transcript of the Prime Minister Masrour Barzani's speech at the opening ceremony:

"In the name of God, the Almighty, the Most Gracious,

Dear Audience,

Thank you all for attending.

This morning, I visited this community, and I was truly astonished by the level of advancement it has achieved. It is a remarkable accomplishment, and one we can all be proud of. I extend my congratulations to the Ministry of Education and the supervisors of this progressive educational institution, which has been developed under the auspices of the Kurdistan Regional Government in a very modern way. It encompasses several diverse departments. Beyond education, other crucial aspects of life have been integrated into this community, such as sports, artistic, and health facilities, along with safety and firefighting systems. A significant portion of the community has been dedicated to greenery, creating a more pleasant and inviting environment for students, encouraging them to engage more with their studies and spend their time here productively.

This community bears the name of the esteemed national leader of the Kurdish people, the late Mr. Barzani, who devoted his entire life to the cause of national pride. One of his foremost aspirations was for our people to study freely and proudly in their homeland, advancing through knowledge and contributing to the progress of their country.

Today, we enjoy freedom, security, stability, and numerous achievements—all made possible by the struggles and sacrifices of our heroic Peshmerga and our honored martyrs. I hope that this community, along with its students, teachers, and staff, will remain both patriotic and environmentally conscious.

As I have emphasized before, there is a pressing need for new schools and the renovation of existing ones. To elevate the education sector, we must build more schools and expedite the refurbishment of those already in place. In recent years, despite facing challenging financial circumstances, we have managed, through the government's efforts and with support from the private sector, to construct and renovate dozens of new schools. Just in the past few days, we laid the foundation stone for 15 new kindergartens and schools in Erbil province, and we remain committed to continuing this program to further advance the education sector.

Once again, I extend my heartfelt thanks to all of you for your presence, especially to the Minister, who has put tremendous effort into this project. I am hopeful that this initiative will benefit all citizens of Kurdistan, particularly those in Erbil.

May you all succeed, and may our Kurdistan continue to thrive."
