US Ambassador urges fairness, participation in Kurdistan’s Parliamentary Election

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – As voters in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq head to the polls for the parliamentary elections today, the United States has emphasized the importance of broad participation and fair conduct in the electoral process.
In a statement, U.S. Ambassador to Iraq Alina L. Romanowski underscored the significance of citizen involvement in shaping their region’s future. "It is important for all eligible voters in the Iraqi Kurdistan region to participate in the parliamentary elections and make their voices heard," she stated, stressing that voting is "the backbone of a successful democracy."
Ambassador Romanowski also called on political parties and stakeholders to uphold the integrity of the elections, urging them to ensure that the process remains "free and fair, without violence or intimidation," so that the results genuinely reflect "the will of the people."
The message also highlighted the enduring relationship between the United States and Iraq, including the Kurdistan Region, affirming Washington's dedication to supporting Iraq’s "security, stability, and sovereignty."
She noted, "Together, we are advancing the 360-degree partnership with all the people of Iraq, including those in the Iraqi Kurdistan region."
