ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - Erbil Governor Omed Khoshnaw announced today the completion of the first phase of a major urban greening project, with 1,000 trees planted along the median strip of the city's 120-meter highway, with 2000 more trees to be planted in the second phase.

In a Facebook post, Khoshnaw detailed the initiative as part of a comprehensive urban beautification and environmental enhancement program for the provincial capital.

"This project aims to increase green spaces and improve the aesthetic appeal of our city's main thoroughfares," the governor stated.

The Parks and Gardens Engineering teams will plant an additional 2,000 trees along the same highway in the second phase of the project, marking a significant expansion of Erbil's urban forest cover.

The initiative reflects the Kurdistan Regional Government's commitment to environmental sustainability and urban development in the rapidly growing metropolitan area.
