ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – A Turkish military drone strike killed three Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) members, including a senior official, in the Kurdistan Region's Duhok province, the Kurdistan Region's Counter-Terrorism Service announced on Sunday.

According to the statement, the strike occurred late Saturday night (Nov. 9, 2024) near Klil village in the Chamankê sub-district of Amedi, Duhok province.

The Turkish drone targeted a vehicle carrying the PKK members, resulting in all three occupants' deaths.

Turkey has been conducting military operations against PKK positions in the Kurdistan Region's border areas for several years.

The PKK, designated as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States, and the European Union, has maintained a presence in the Kurdistan Region's mountainous border areas since the 1980s.

These ongoing operations have significantly impacted border communities and civilian life in the affected areas.

The use of drone technology has become increasingly prominent in Turkey's military strategy in recent years, particularly in cross-border operations targeting PKK positions.
