The summit aims to reach concrete agreements to end the conflicts and tensions in the Middle East.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani departed for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Monday to participate in the Arab League and Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) joint summit focusing on the Gaza war, Lebanon crisis, and regional developments.
The summit aims to reach concrete agreements to end the conflicts and tensions in the Middle East.
This marks the second joint Arab League-OIC summit since the outbreak of the Gaza war following Hamas's Oct. 7, 2023 attack on Israel and the subsequent escalation of conflict in Lebanon.
The first summit, held on Nov. 11, 2023, called for suspending economic and diplomatic relations with Israel as pressure to end the conflict. However, the situation has since deteriorated, with growing concerns about a broader regional conflict in the Middle East.
The joint Arab-Islamic summit comes amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, particularly regarding the ongoing Gaza conflict and its regional implications.
The previous year's summit recommendations for diplomatic and economic pressure on Israel failed to achieve the desired outcome of ending hostilities. The conflict has since expanded to include tensions with Hezbollah in Lebanon, raising concerns about a wider regional conflict.
This summit represents another attempt by Arab and Islamic nations to find a diplomatic solution to the crisis, as regional stability continues to deteriorate. The participation of Iraq's Prime Minister reflects the country's role in regional diplomatic efforts to address the ongoing crisis.
