ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani conducted an extensive tour of Baghdad on Thursday, covering both the Karkh and Rusafa districts, to monitor the implementation of the curfew imposed for Iraq's comprehensive population and housing census.

During his tour, he also inspected the progress of various service projects across the capital.

The Prime Minister visited different neighborhoods, streets, markets, and commercial areas throughout Baghdad, where he engaged directly with citizens, listening to their primary concerns and needs regarding public services and living conditions.

Al-Sudani inspected several service project sites and infrastructure developments currently under construction in various areas of the capital. He reiterated his previous directives emphasizing the importance of completing these projects within their predetermined timeframes while adhering to engineering and technical specifications.

The Prime Minister stressed that these standards must be met to deliver sustainable development for the capital and its residents, in line with the planned modernization efforts.

Iraq's last comprehensive census was conducted in 1997, excluding the Kurdistan Region. The current census, which requires a nationwide curfew to ensure accurate data collection, represents a significant step in gathering crucial demographic information needed for future planning and development.

This data is particularly important for budget allocation and resource distribution among Iraq's provinces and regions.
