ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The Erbil Traffic Directorate issued three new decisions on Sunday aimed at regulating traffic flow on the city's major highways.

According to a statement from the directorate, the first decision prohibits all bicycles and motorcycles, whether two or three-wheeled, from operating on the 120m and 150m highways.

The directorate added that the regulations also ban heavy machinery and equipment used in construction and agriculture that cannot exceed speeds of 80 km/h, such as bulldozers, excavators, and agricultural tractors.

These vehicles must now be transported via designated trucks rather than driving directly on the mentioned highways.

The statement emphasized the importance of complying with the third decision, which prohibits the operation of any vehicle or motorcycle lacking proper documentation on any of Erbil's streets.

The directorate explained that these decisions aim to regulate traffic flow, reduce congestion, and minimize traffic accidents.

The statement warned that legal measures would be taken against violators, including the confiscation of non-compliant vehicles or motorcycles.

Erbil, the capital city of the Kurdistan Region, has experienced significant urban growth in recent years, leading to increased traffic concerns.

The 120m and 150m highways are major arterial roads in the city, serving as crucial transportation corridors. These new regulations represent the latest effort by local authorities to modernize traffic management and enhance road safety in the rapidly developing metropolis.
