ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - The Kurdistan Regional Government operates a free 24-hour emergency hotline (119) providing immediate assistance to individuals facing domestic violence and family conflicts across the region.
The service operates under the Directorate of Combating Violence Against Women and Families in the Kurdistan Region, which maintains a comprehensive network of:
- 8 main directorates
- 28 district-level offices
- 3 sub-district units
Staffed by trained professionals specializing in legal, social, and psychological support, the hotline serves as a crucial lifeline for those in need. The service is accessible to all family members regardless of gender, ethnicity, or language, offering guidance, support, and professional consultation in legal, social, and psychological matters.
Established in late 2018 by the Kurdistan Regional Government, the 119 hotline was created to prevent family dissolution, maintain social harmony, and better serve citizens throughout Kurdistan.
