The Syrian army also claimed it confronted the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and its allies prior to its capture by the opposition forces. However, the statement highlights that “the vastness and multiple battlefronts forced the Army to retreat and regroup.”

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - According to a statement released by the Syrian Army on Saturday regarding the developments in Idlib and Aleppo, the army has described its withdrawal from “several battlefronts” as “temporary”.

The statement also indicated the Syrian Army is making preparations for “a counter-offensive”.

The Syrian army also claimed it confronted the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and its allies prior to its capture by the opposition forces. However, the statement highlights that “the vastness and multiple battlefronts forced the Army to retreat and regroup.”

The statement also reiterated that the withdrawal is temporary and underlined that due to continuous aerial attacks, the opposition forces have not been able to maintain a military base within Aleppo.

These comments by the Syrian Army come at a time when the majority of Aleppo has been reported to have fallen under the control of Syrian Opposition Forces, led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and its allies.
