ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – On Friday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan addressed key regional issues and in particular, the ongoing situation in Syria, wishing for the opposition forces’ march to continue.

According to a report by Anadolu Agency, the Turkish president has stated, “… Idlib, Hama, Homs, and the target is Damascus.”

He added that “the opposition’s march continues. Our wish is that this march in Syria continues without accidents or disasters.”

The Turkish President’s words follow the previous attempts at normalization of relations between the two countries. Highlighting the failed attempt, President Erdogan said, “We made a call to (Bashar al) Assad. We said: 'Come, let's determine the future of Syria together.' Unfortunately, we did not receive a positive response to this.”

On Nov. 30, the opposition forces in Syria, led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and its allies, captured Aleppo the second-largest city in Syria. In rapid succession, these forces have been able to capture several other key areas such as Hama, and now they are on the move to Homs.
