Iraqi, French Foreign Ministers discuss Syria developments

The French Foreign Minister suggested holding another Baghdad Conference in the near future to align with recent international developments.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - In a telephone conversation on Monday, Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein and French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot discussed the latest developments in Syria, including Barrot's recent visit to Damascus and his meetings with new Syrian authorities.

According to a statement from Iraq's Foreign Ministry, Minister Hussein briefed his French counterpart about the contents of his recent phone call with Syrian Foreign Minister Assad Shibani.

Both ministers underlined their shared vision for realizing regional stability and emphasized the significance of ensuring that Syria's political process includes all components of the country. 

The French Foreign Minister suggested holding another Baghdad Conference in the near future to align with recent international developments.

During the call, the ministers also discussed bilateral relations between Baghdad and Paris across several sectors. 

Minister Hussein extended an invitation to his French counterpart to visit Baghdad, which Barrot accepted, promising to make the trip in the near future.

The discussion manifests ongoing diplomatic attempts to address regional challenges and reinforce Iraqi-French relations, with both sides demonstrating commitment to maintaining dialogue on Syrian affairs and broader regional issues.
