KRG Minister Ano Jawhar Engages in Strategic Talks with U.S. Officials in Washington
Discussions Focused on Regional Stability, Minority Rights, and Strengthening Kurdistan-U.S. Relations

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Minister of Transport and Communications, Ano Jawhar continues holding meetings and attending strategic discussions on the sidelines of his official visit to the United Sates.
On Saturday Minister Jawhar, held a series of meetings with members of the U.S. Congress members and other government officials in Washington DC. He met with U.S. Congressman Thomas Massie and former Congressman Dave Brat, who currently serves as the Dean of the School of Business at Liberty University.
Discussions focused on regional issues in the Middle East, particularly the challenges faced by ethnic and religious communities in the region, especially amid the unclear vision following the rapid political and security developments in Syria.
During his discussions minister Jawhar emphasized the importance of supporting and protecting these communities during these volatile political times. He highlighted that the Kurdistan Region remains a safe haven for freedoms and the rights of diverse communities in the area.
Jawhar also underscored the Kurdistan Region's role as a stable area in the Middle East, noting that it continues to serve as a safe haven for peaceful coexistence among various religious and ethnic groups.
He expressed optimism that the new U.S. administration would continue to support this model of coexistence and democracy in the region.
On the same day (Saturday), Minister Jawhar accompanied by the KRG Representative in the U.S., Ms. Treefa Aziz, held a meeting at the Atlantic Council, one of the most important independent research centers in the United States, where he discussed the latest developments in the region.
In their meeting with Atlantic Council senior experts, the KRG senior officials reaffirmed the Kurdistan Region’s strong commitment to religious freedom, democratic values, and the protection of the rights of religious and ethnic components. They called for the global community’s support for Kurdistan Region’s model in this regard.
In January, Minister Jawhar started an official visit to the US, starting from Michigan, where he met with several U.S. government officials and members of the U.S. Congress. The meetings emphasized the importance of strengthening ties between the United States and the Kurdistan Region, with a focus on supporting stability and development in the region.
