ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Department of Information Technology (DIT) has successfully launched a centralized Digital Identity-Based Payroll Management System (PMS), marking a major milestone in modernizing payroll operations across government institutions.

Developed under the directive of Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, this initiative strengthens efficiency, transparency, and financial accuracy in public sector payroll management.

Prime Minister Masrour Barzani underscored the significance of the new system, stating: “The launch of the PMS represents a pivotal moment for our region. By integrating digital identity solutions with advanced data management, we are building the foundation for a more efficient, transparent, and secure public sector.”

Powered by the state-of-the-art T3 Data Center, the PMS provides a secure, stable, and high-performance environment for payroll processing, reinforcing the government’s commitment to digital transformation.

A Unified System for Accuracy and Transparency

The PMS establishes a single, trusted source for payroll data, ensuring seamless coordination between the KRG and the Federal Government in Baghdad. By consolidating payroll information into a unified platform, the system eliminates discrepancies, enhances financial reporting accuracy, and strengthens governance.

Locally Developed, User-Centered Innovation

Designed, developed, and implemented entirely by the DIT, the PMS reflects the KRG’s commitment to user-centered design and capacity building. This in-house approach optimizes resources, reduces costs, and fosters local innovation while ensuring the system aligns with real user needs. By leveraging local expertise, the initiative enhances accessibility, operational efficiency, and institutional capacity.

Seamless Transition and Future Expansion

To ensure a smooth transition from legacy systems, thousands of government employees across the Kurdistan Region have been trained to use the PMS, facilitating swift adoption. Looking ahead, the DIT plans to harness the system’s insights for data-driven decision-making and expand its capabilities with additional digital services, such as employee self-service portals and performance tracking tools.

These enhancements will further modernize government operations and improve service delivery, positioning the Kurdistan Region at the forefront of digital governance.
