PM Barzani, UN envoy to Iraq discuss progress in Erbil-Baghdad relations

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met on Tuesday with Mohamed al-Hassan, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Iraq and head of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), to discuss ongoing efforts to strengthen ties between Erbil and Baghdad.

Both leaders emphasized the importance of resolving disputes between the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the federal government through dialogue and cooperation. They reaffirmed their commitment to respecting the constitutional rights of the Kurdish people and upholding the federal structure of the Kurdistan Region.

The UN envoy commended the leadership of President Masoud Barzani and Prime Minister Masrour Barzani for their dedication to maintaining security and stability in both the Kurdistan Region and Iraq as a whole.

In turn, Prime Minister Barzani praised the Special Representative’s efforts in fostering unity among Iraqi political parties and strengthening overall stability in the region.
