Iraq takes steps to tackle child labor and protect future generations

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Efforts to address child labor in Iraq are gaining momentum as activists and organizations push for stronger protections and economic reforms to ensure a better future for the country’s youth. 

The head of the Child Rights Network emphasized the urgency of addressing child labor, calling it a crucial issue for Iraq's development. He highlighted the importance of providing education and opportunities to safeguard children from potential exploitation. 

Activist Bushra Abul-Ais noted that increasing awareness and improving economic policies will play a key role in reducing child labor, especially in the industrial areas of Baghdad. She expressed optimism that with the right government initiatives, the situation could improve significantly. 

Haider Quraishi, president of the Children's Rights Organization, reaffirmed Iraq’s commitment to international laws prohibiting child labor. He emphasized that greater collaboration between the government, civil society, and international organizations can help create sustainable solutions. 

As Iraq continues to develop its economic strategies, efforts to prioritize education and social programs offer hope for reducing child labor and ensuring a brighter future for the next generation.
