Erbil (Kurdistan24) – In a bid to encourage a culture of reading, a new public library has been inaugurated at the Erbil Traffic Directorate on Thursday, offering a unique space for visitors awaiting the completion of their administrative procedures.

An Initiative to Reintroduce Reading Habits

At the event inauguration, Hemin Mirani, Director General of the Ministry of Interior’s Administrative Department described the initiative as "an excellent step to reintroduce citizens to the habit of reading," particularly in an era dominated by digital distractions. "In today’s fast-paced technological world, where most people spend their time on smartphones, this library offers an alternative that encourages intellectual engagement," he stated.

A Well-Equipped Library for All Visitors

The library boasts a diverse collection of thousands of books in Kurdish, Arabic, and English, catering to a wide range of interests and preferences. It is designed to serve individuals who frequently visit the directorate for administrative procedures, providing them with an opportunity to utilize their waiting time productively.

A Busy Directorate Adopting Digital Solutions

The Erbil Traffic Directorate is one of the busiest government offices in the Kurdistan Region, handling a large number of transactions daily. To streamline services, the department has adopted an electronic queuing system, allowing citizens to track wait times for their applications.

Authorities hope that the newly established library will not only enhance the visitor experience but also rekindle an interest in reading, reinforcing the significance of books in an increasingly digital world.
