ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The Ibrahim Khalil border crossing between the Kurdistan Region and Turkey has resumed operations following a temporary suspension caused by a technical issue, the border’s management announced.
On Tuesday , the Ibrahim Khalil Border Administration suspended both commercial and tourist travel between the Khabur and Ibrahim Khalil crossings due to a technical malfunction in the passport control system at the Turkish Khabur checkpoint.
In response, the supervisor of the Ibrahim Khalil border visited the Khabur crossing and initiated coordination efforts with relevant authorities to resolve the issue.
A Key Trade and Travel Gateway
The Ibrahim Khalil border crossing is one of the most vital land routes facilitating trade and tourism between the Kurdistan Region and Turkey. Located 60 kilometers northwest of Duhok and 114 kilometers from Mosul, the crossing plays a crucial role in regional commerce, with trade exchanges worth billions of dollars passing through annually.
With operations now restored, border authorities reaffirm their commitment to maintaining efficient services and preventing future disruptions.
