ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — Masrour Barzani, Vice President of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), delivered a keynote speech on Tuesday during the 20th session of the KDP Cadre Institute, emphasizing the enduring legacy of the Barzani leadership and the party’s vision for a prosperous and united Kurdistan.

Speaking to a hall of KDP members and trainees, Barzani described the course as an opportunity to renew the party’s commitment to the ideals of the late national leader Mullah Mustafa Barzani and Idris Barzani, whose contributions he called "ever-present in our memory." He stressed that the party remains dedicated to its founding principles and to leading the people of Kurdistan toward a better future.

“This is not only a commitment to our past, but to our people, our land, and our fellow strugglers—especially our heroic Peshmergas,” he said. “We must be ready to carry forward this sacred path and lead our people to victory.”

Barzani urged cadres to uphold the leadership of President Masoud Barzani and focus on building a legacy that future generations can take pride in. “We are proud of our rich and unparalleled history,” he noted. “But we cannot rely on history alone. We must build on it through continued achievement and effective outreach.”

He emphasized the importance of adapting to modern developments, particularly in the areas of media and technology. “Today’s world has changed. With artificial intelligence, social media, and modern communication tools, cadres must educate themselves and stay informed about regional and global shifts,” he said. “Cadre training should not be limited to politics—it should prepare members to connect with society’s evolving aspirations.”

Barzani also touched on political competition in Kurdistan, encouraging party members to remain focused, informed, and principled. “Kurdistan is home to many political parties—some are our allies, others our competitors,” he said. “We must know how to respond to false propaganda and shape public opinion through truth and unity, not division.”

Highlighting the crucial role of party cadres, Barzani said their responsibility extends beyond internal party duties. “When a cadre enters society, their mission is clear: reach every segment of the population, communicate our vision, and earn public trust. That is how we will succeed—not only in elections but in securing Kurdistan’s future.”

He concluded with a call to action: “Without the KDP and your efforts, we cannot realize our national aspirations. Strengthen yourselves, build trust, and engage with the people. The more trust we gain, the closer we come to our goal. The KDP must remain the leading force in the Kurdistan Region.”
