ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — Iran on Monday dismissed the possibility of halting its uranium enrichment activities as part of any prospective nuclear agreement with the United States, according to the French news agency AFP.

"This information is a figment of the imagination and totally false," said Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baqaei when questioned about the issue during a press briefing in Tehran.

The statement underscores Tehran’s firm stance on continuing its nuclear program, amid ongoing international concerns and stalled diplomatic efforts to revive the 2015 nuclear accord.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei emphasized that Iran has approached the Omani-mediated negotiations with the United States with seriousness and intent, rejecting any notion that Tehran is engaging in the process aimlessly. He cautioned against relying on media reports about Iran-U.S. or Iran-Europe talks, warning that outlets affiliated with the Israeli regime are actively spreading misinformation to undermine diplomatic efforts.

During a cabinet meeting on Sunday, President Masoud Pezeshkian reaffirmed the importance of national unity in shielding Iran from external interference, stating that “the Americans will not be able to exploit the Iranian situation if they realize unity and empathy within the country,” according to a May 26 report by IRNA.

His remarks followed a briefing by Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi on the fifth round of "indirect" Iran-U.S. negotiations. Pezeshkian also stressed the need for respectful interaction and social cohesion, particularly in the health sector, and emphasized improving citizens’ livelihoods. Highlighting the country’s capacity to address internal challenges, he urged the expansion of regional and international relations, particularly with neighboring states, as a means to foster stability and economic growth.
