Iranian 'Islamic Doctor' Claims COVID Vaccine Used by Israel to Assassinate IRGC Commanders

As Israel-Iran clashes intensify, Iran’s fringe “Islamic doctor” Abbas Tabrizian claimed IRGC commanders were assassinated via COVID vaccines allegedly manipulated by Israel. His theory, widely seen as conspiratorial, highlights the rise of disinformation amid escalating war tensions.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – In a curious twist amid the intensifying conflict between Israel and Iran, a well-known figure in Iran's alternative medical circles has introduced a bold new theory on how Israel allegedly eliminated several top Iranian military commanders: vaccines.

On Monday, Abbas Tabrizian, a self-proclaimed "Islamic doctor" notorious for his conspiracy-laden social media posts, claimed on his Telegram channel that senior commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) were assassinated by Israel through the use of a vaccine.

According to Tabrizian, "Several years ago, a number of those senior commanders of the IRGC who were killed had used a type of COVID vaccine, and Israel was able, through that vaccine, to locate and assassinate them."

Apparently, Tabrizian had previously warned the IRGC commanders against receiving the vaccine. He added, "As I noted, I had previously warned many of those senior commanders of the IRGC not to use the vaccine, but no one listened, and they insisted on using it."

The claim comes amid a dramatic and very real escalation in military hostilities.

The war began in the early hours of Friday, June 13, 2025, when Israel launched a massive air operation involving over 200 warplanes targeting military and nuclear installations in Tehran and several other Iranian cities. The attacks resulted in the deaths of several high-ranking military officials and nuclear scientists.

According to Iran's Ministry of Health, between the start of the Israeli strikes and the evening of Sunday, June 15, a total of 244 people have been killed and more than 1,480 injured.

In retaliation, Iran has launched a series of daily missile attacks targeting Tel Aviv and other Israeli locations. According to Israeli media reports, the Iranian salvos have caused 20 fatalities and injured more than 500 people in Israel.

Despite mounting international pressure on both sides to de-escalate the crisis, neither Tehran nor Tel Aviv has shown any willingness to halt the ongoing hostilities. American media outlets have cited White House sources predicting that the war will last "several weeks, not just a few days."

While battlefield events continue to dominate headlines, Tabrizian's vaccine assassination theory appears to offer a striking contrast: a plot more suitable for science fiction than a serious military analysis. Nonetheless, his post underscores the ways in which wartime anxieties—and disinformation—can take hold in moments of national crisis.

As of now, no Iranian health authority or military institution has commented on Tabrizian's statements.
