Iraqi Officials Offer Condolences Over Death of Abdulwahid Barzani
Al-Araji and Halbousi extend condolences to President Barzani and the Barzani family as funeral ceremonies are set for Barzan area on Sunday
ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — Iraqi officials on Saturday offered condolences to President Masoud Barzani and the Barzani family following the death of Abdulwahid Ibrahim Sheikh Abdulsalam Barzani, the elder brother of the Barzani family.
Qasim al-Araji, Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi’s Security Advisor, expressed his condolences in a message to President Barzani, Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani, and Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani.
“With deep sorrow and grief, we received the news of the passing of Sheikh Abdulwahid Ibrahim Sheikh Abdulsalam Barzani,” al-Araji said, extending his “warmest condolences and sincere sympathy” to the Barzani family.
He prayed that God would grant the deceased His “vast mercy and forgiveness” and give patience, peace and solace to his family, relatives and loved ones.
Iraqi Parliament Speaker Haibat al-Halbousi also issued a condolence message on Saturday, expressing his “deep sorrow and grief” over the death of Abdulwahid Barzani.
Al-Halbousi extended his condolences to President Barzani, the deceased’s family and relatives, and those close to him, praying that God grant them patience and consolation and receive the deceased with His mercy.
The Barzani Headquarters announced that Abdulwahid Barzani’s funeral and the first day of condolences will be held in Barzan area on Sunday, Sept. 6.
The second and third days of condolences will take place in Pirmam on Monday, Sept. 7, and Tuesday, Sept. 8.
Barzan holds profound historical significance for the Barzani family and the Kurdish national movement and will host Sunday’s funeral ceremonies.
In a separate announcement, President Barzani highlighted Abdulwahid’s position within the Barzani family and described his life as one characterized by faith, benevolence, and service.
The death of Abdulwahid Barzani has prompted condolences from senior political leaders and public figures, reflecting his standing within the Barzani family and Kurdish society.
