PUK Leader Bafel Talabani Offers Condolences to President Barzani Over Family Bereavement

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) President Bafel Talabani on Saturday extended his condolences to President Masoud Barzani following the death of Abdulwahid Ibrahim Sheikh Abdulsalam Barzani, the eldest brother of the Barzani family.
In a condolence message, Talabani expressed his deep sorrow over the death of Abdulwahid Ibrahim Sheikh Abdulsalam Barzani, describing him as a prominent member of the Barzani family.
“With great sorrow and grief, we received the news of the passing of the prominent figure of your family, Abdulwahid Ibrahim Sheikh Abdulsalam Barzani,” Talabani said in his message.
He extended his condolences to Barzani and his family, saying that he and the PUK share their grief during the bereavement.
“We extend our condolences and sympathy to you and your family, which has a long history of struggle over this loss, and stand with you in your grief,” Talabani said.
The PUK leader also offered prayers for the deceased and asked God to grant him eternal peace and patience to his family.
Barzani announced the death of his elder brother on Friday, describing Abdulwahid Ibrahim Sheikh Abdulsalam Barzani as a descendant of the prominent religious and national leader Sheikh Abdulsalam Barzani.
In his message, Barzani said his late brother had been known within the family for his religious devotion, piety, charitable character, and prominent standing.
According to a statement from the Barzani Headquarters, the condolence gathering and burial ceremony for Abdulwahid Ibrahim Sheikh Abdulsalam Barzani will be held in Barzan area on Sunday, September 6, 2026.
